Procedure
- Cover test panel with paper between mandrel and draw bar and clamp the probe.
- Fold the panel around the cone by using the manually operated arm.
- Bend uniformly at 180 degrees within 15 seconds.
- Remove panel and examine the coating for cracks.
- Mark the point at which the cracking stops.
- Measure the distance from the farthest end of the crack to the small end of the mandrel.
- Appropriate calibration curves also permit determination of the elongation values of the paint film.

It is one of the main indicators to measure the performance of paints. It has great reference value for the selection of paint varieties. The film bending tester is a special instrument for evaluating the coating of paints, varnishes and related products. It is resistant to cracking or peeling from metal plates when bent around a cylindrical axis under standard conditions, and conforms to GB6742 national standard. Working Principle: The flexural radius is different for the elongation properties of the substrate, and the coating film determines the flexibility of the coating film according to the cracking or peeling at different bending radii. The diameters of the film bend tester shafts were 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25 and 32 mm, respectively. The adjustment of the rotating handle should be greater than 17mm, and the gap should be 0.05mm when it is tightly attached to the test bar. The lifting and lowering of the support plate components should be greater than 17mm, and the gap is allowed to be 0.1mm when the test bar is in close contact. This instrument is suitable for samples with a thickness of 1.0mm or less. Test environment and conditions: In order to make the results correct, the test should be carried out at a temperature of 23 ± 2 °C and a relative temperature of 50 ± 5%.
